Introduction to Woodturning
Class - Wood | Registration opens 8/11/2026 9:00 AM EDT
Immerse yourself in the basics of wood turning and spend extended time getting to know the lathe! Over the course of five weeks, you’ll learn all about the tools and techniques necessary to turn spindles and bowls. With lots of hands-on time to practice as well as plenty of individual instruction, you’ll build your skills in turning while completing several classic turning projects from candle stick holders to bowls. This course will teach a beginning turner to prioritize safe and effective techniques, essential to a solid foundation in woodturning.

Ed Siegel
Ed Siegel has been a woodturner for over forty years and creates most of his work from “found” local woods. Originally from New York State, Ed and his wife recently relocated to Greensboro. Ed enjoys demonstrating and teaching woodturning, and has won numerous awards, including several blue ribbons, for turning and carving at the Great New York State fair.
