Dovetail Shaker Step Stool

Learn the art of hand cut dovetails while building a classic two step Shaker stool. Practice the essential skills of wood joinery: measuring, marking, sawing to your line, and chiseling joints clean. The class will include some lessons on using a few machines but will focus mainly on the use of hand tools. With time to work on joinery and plenty of practice, you'll be confidently cutting one of the strongest (and best looking!) joints in woodworking. Prior experience with hand cut joinery will be very helpful.
Additional Information:
- A $75 materials fee will be added to the total class fee at checkout.
- Registration will close one week prior to the start of class.
- Enrollment is open to students ages 18 and up.
Tom Hollis
Tom Hollis is a biochemist at Wake Forest School of Medicine. He has been making contemporary and period furniture for almost 30 years. Tom has been trained by Lonnie Bird and self-taught.
