Charcoal Drawing Still Life

Naturalism can often seem intimidating, but in this class, we will break down the translation of form and figure into positive and negative space. We will practice sight measurement and proportion, and construct space within 2D. Understanding figurative storytelling and gesture is also a key goal of this course. We will explore how to create realism through simplification using a versatile medium.
Supplies Needed:
- Charcoal (vine and compressed)
- Kneaded erasers
- News print
- Drawing paper
