Spice Rack

Make a spice rack for the most used spices in your kitchen! In this class, students will create their own spice racks using tusked mortise and tenon joints. We will learn different ways to cut the mortises and tenons, and how to utilize chisels to create a perfect fit. Students will be able to customize their shelves for their own uses, and add embellishments through carving and painting.

- Enrollment is open to students ages 18 and up.

Molly Steadman
Molly Steadman is a basket weaver, woodworker, and craftsperson who is relocating to Winston-Salem from Portland, Oregon to be the 2025/2026 Gondring Woodworking resident. She holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Pacific Northwest College of Art and has spent several years as a student, volunteer, and educator at the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild. She is drawn to historical craft techniques and is eager to further explore her interest in basketry and greenwood furniture traditions through a contemporary and queer lens.
