9027. Live Edge Coffee Table
Class - Wood | Registration opens 2/10/2026 9:00 AM EST
Build a modern live edge coffee table with mortise and tenon joinery. Choose your slab and learn to design furniture to accommodate seasonal movement across a large slab tabletop, as well as how to stabilize your tabletop with "Butterfly" inlay keys. Class will cover the use of various tools, including mortising machines and routers to create tight fitting joinery. Students can expect to leave class with new skills and knowledge, as well as a unique, beautiful coffee table of their own making. Some prior woodworking experience is necessary.
Additional Information:
- A $120 materials fee is will be added to the total class fee at checkout
- Registration will close one week prior to the start of class to allow adequate time for material sourcing
- Wood Species will depend on availability and may not be as pictured in sample photo.
- This is a 6 week class with a scheduled skip day on 5/5
- This class is open to students ages 18 and up.
Tom Hollis
Tom Hollis is a biochemist at Wake Forest School of Medicine. He has been making contemporary and period furniture for almost 30 years. Tom has been trained by Lonnie Bird and self-taught.
