Still Life Small Canvas Studies

Art + Wellness | Registration opens 2/10/2026 9:00 AM EST

In this workshop we will learn about creating a composition using underpainting, intentional shapes and contrasting colors. The instructor will have several still life setups and have students complete quick small sketch compositions which we will then paint. We will discuss approaches to color mixing and how to bring life/depth to seemingly still objects on the canvas.   Supplies provided. Ages 14 and up.  The class will break for lunch. You may wish to bring a bag lunch or visit one of the local restaurants close by.

Lenkaitis Childers, Bryn
Bryn Lenkaitis Childers

Bryn Lenkaitis is a Pennsylvania native who fell in love with the people and places of North Carolina and decided to make it home about 4 years ago. She has a BA in Art History and Studio Art from IUP where she was given the opportunity to study in both Croatia and Spain – most memorable being her experience backpacking the El Camino de Santiago across Northern Spain.

When she’s not working as a Philanthropic Project Specialist aiding in the fundraising efforts for Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, Bryn creates art mainly in acrylics and oils but also experiments with ink and mixed media. Her artwork explores the use of bold color and texture to bring to life both the beautiful adventures and day-to-day places she inhabits. In doing so, she can put down roots in the rich soil of each new community she finds herself in and preserve the transient landscapes along the way that bring her immense joy.
