Spring Spirit Doll Workshop

Workshop - Textiles | Available

Welcome the change in season through the process of making a Spring Spirit Doll with artist Elizabeth Klaimon. In this workshop, we will be thinking about Spring, growth and new beginnings to create a one of a kind Spirit Doll.  Students will use basic doll making techniques: devising the doll, experimenting with doll faces, drawing a unique spirit doll pattern that can be re-used, using wrapped wire armature to give shape, and adding embellishments for effect. Finished Spirit Dolls make wonderful focal points for centerpieces, springtime wreaths, or may be used as meditative companions. We will use “slow stitching” methods as part of the creative process. Basic hand sewing skills are recommended, and will be covered in class.

Doll making is a journey and reflection is built into the process with expressive journaling.  Basic supplies will be provided.  Students are encouraged to bring in fabric remnants and other items to embellish their doll and truly make it their own.  Ages 14 and up.
