Modern Crazy Stitch Wallhanging

Class - Textiles | Available

If you have stitches on your sewing machine that you’ve always wanted to use, but have never had the occasion, this Modern Crazy Stitch Wallhanging is just for you!  This adaptation of crazy quilting will teach you new stitches on your machine (or use one of ours).  Plus, we will be using up scraps, using fun thread, and even coming up with ways to embellish our pieces.

Students will be provided with 10” squares and the Creative Grids Crazy Eights quilting rulers to help make piecing a breeze.  Once pieced, students will then use creative machine stitches to embellish the seams of each of the 8” quilt blocks. Then the blocks will be pieced together in a 28” x 28” wallhanging.  Once students understand the concept, they will be able to move on to making their own quilt if they want!

A note about sewing machines to students: This is a wonderful opportunity to bring your snazzy sewing machine, whether it is new to you or you’ve had it for ages, especially if that sewing machine has lots of stitches you rarely use.  If you do not own a sewing machine, Sawtooth has machines which you can use on the days of class, and if students need to complete work in between class sessions, arrangements can be made.
