Special 6-week Spring offering! This class introduces tools and techniques of jewelry design and fabrication, creating pieces starting with simple sheet metal and wire. Use copper, brass or silver sheet and wire and learn to texture, saw, forge, polish and more. Learn and practice the basics through class projects. Design your own wearable creations, using skills introduced like roll texturing, forming and soldering. Some supplies (metal) are included, others will be discussed in class and are available to purchase during class. The studio has all the tools and equipment necessary and you need not bring tools unless you want. You are welcomed and encouraged to repeat this class to reinforce basic skills and add to your fabrication techniques. There's so much to learn! Enjoy Nannette's patient guidance while creating things you'll love to wear and show off. Ages 16+.

Davis, Nannette

Nannette Davis graduated from Kansas University with a bachelor’s degree in graphic arts and communication and a bachelor’s degree in fine art in metalsmithing. After working as a lead bench and assistant for a jewelry designer in Chicago, she built her studio and started a jewelry line. She worked for 16 years in Gatti-Davis Designs Studio in Colorado then moved to Winston-Salem in 2005 and taught in the public schools through 2011. She teaches classes at Sawtooth and sells her jewelry through craft shows and galleries.
