Explore the “pre-history” of Old Salem in the area of the first settlement. This class will explore techniques for capturing the best images of historic places. The class will meet in Bethabara Park. We will discuss techniques to overcome some of the challenges inherent in photographing buildings and historic sites. Though DSLR and/or mirrorless cameras are ideal, we will also discuss techniques for making great photographs with mobile phones. Students using DSLR’s should have a good understanding of their camera’s operation and the basics of exposure, but don’t need any prior experience with landscape shooting. Ages: 15-Adult.

Daniel, Larry

My photographic journey started about as long ago as I can remember with film and flashbulbs. I moved to a 35 mm SLR as I finished high school and documented my trip through college and graduate school. A broken camera meter led to many years of familiarity with a hand held light meter and exposure control. Most of my photography has been a record of my travels while doing research and teaching at Wake Forest, and in Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, The Republic of Georgia, China and Japan. Along the journey, I have moved into the digital world and enjoy the image control it provides.
