Expanding on the basic photographic tools and techniques introduced in Digital Photography I & II. Students in this course will be introduced to the concepts of composition, from basics such as the rule of thirds to more advanced topics such as the way the eye travels through a photo. The course introduces composition fundamentals, such as balance and point of view. Students will also learn the importance of light, framing, and color. Students need to have a DSLR capable of shooting in Raw (most would qualify) and also have a copy of either Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Lightroom etc. capable of working with RAW images. For intermediate and advanced students who have a good working knowledge of their cameras.

Katie is a full-time, photojournalistic photographer based in Winston-Salem, NC. She received her BFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design and has been perfecting her craft in the field. Katie works mainly as portrait photographer creating headshots for local acting talent and business professionals. She also photographs families, weddings, and editorial assignments. For two years, Katie has been an instructor for the University of North Carolina School of the Arts summer program teaching portrait photography and lighting. http://www.katiedickson.com
