Each class will start with a brief look at steps in the historic development of late 19th century to early 20th century art styles progressing from the French Academy styles to pure abstraction. The second part of each class includes a demonstration of sketching techniques to create sketchy abstracts and time to work on your own sketchy abstract. You need to bring a sketch pad and colored pencils or illustration markers to each session.

Moderator: Harold Dreibeibis has always thought of himself as an artist, from a toddler to a teetering old man. Although self-taught, he has exhibited in a slew of local group shows, won prizes, and had a couple of solo gallery exhibits. He’d love to share techniques that will allow you to sketch abstractions with abandon.
