What can the efforts of women reveal about one of history’s darkest chapters? This course explores important events and lesser-known dimensions of Holocaust history through the experiences of women both honorable and notorious—as victims, resisters, rescuers, scholars, and even supporters of the Nazi regime. As we investigate topics including propaganda, medicine, rescue, resistance, memory, and justice, we will expand our focus beyond notable European women to include American women before, during, and after the war. Guest experts will share their knowledge in several sessions, enriching our understanding of these stories.

Moderator: Anne Flick is a gifted education specialist and secondary social studies teacher who has taught courses on Holocaust and genocide history as well as Holocaust literature. Volunteering with the Holocaust and Genocide Education Network, she works to bring Holocaust and genocide education to Ohioans (and neighbors) from age 10 to 100. She also is an adjunct teaching graduate courses at Xavier Univ.
