2607 Tour de France 2026

multi-week ZOOM | Registration opens 8/1/26 10:00 AM

The Tour de France is the world’s biggest sporting event. First held in 1903, the race challenges 175+ elite cyclists, racing 2100 miles in 23 days in France and neighboring countries. In Week 1, you’ll learn a brief history including team strategies, technologies, nutrition, costs, and legendary winners. In Week 2, we’ll review the just-completed 2026 tour including both high and low points in the race. Lots of videos and interesting stories. No need to be a cyclist or Tour follower to enjoy this course!

Moderator: Dave Butler is Emeritus Professor of Biomedical Engineering at UC. His research focused on knee and ligament function, injury, and ways to improve healing including the use of stem cells. He has been a long-time cyclist, riding in many locations around the U.S. He enjoys watching the Tour de France each year.
