2602 Sustainability in Action: Creating a Better World

Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 8/1/26 10:00 AM

Sustainability in Action explores practical solutions to climate change, resource conservation, the nature effect, and circular economy principles that support present and future generations. As society faces extreme weather, climate instability, resource depletion, environmental contamination, including persistent "forever chemicals," and growing social disparities, the course examines effective strategies and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and its energy demands. Through expert guest speakers, real-world examples, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities, you’ll gain practical knowledge to better understand sustainability challenges and opportunities while helping create resilient communities, ecosystems, and a sustainable future.

Moderator: Ralph Brueggemann, Professor – Adjunct Emeritus, College of Engineering and Applied Science. He is a published author and has practical experience in independent consulting, quality improvement, nonprofit board experience, and managing the development of commercial products for national and international corporations.
