Smith, Jr. Oct 16: The Westward Expansion—“Undaunted Courage” by Stephen E. Ambrose. Oct 30: The Civil Rights Movement—“Cora Unashamed” by Langston Hughes and “Letters from Birmingham Jail” by Martin Luther King, Jr. Nov 13: The Attacks of 9/11— “The Submission” by Amy Waldman.
