We will read and discuss four works from defining moments of the past 250 years in the U.S. Oct 2: The American Revolution—“The Unexpected Abigail Adams” by John L. Smith, Jr. Oct 16: The Westward Expansion—“Undaunted Courage” by Stephen E. Ambrose. Oct 30: The Civil Rights Movement—“Cora Unashamed” by Langston Hughes and “Letters from Birmingham Jail” by Martin Luther King, Jr. Nov 13: The Attacks of 9/11— “The Submission” by Amy Waldman.

Moderators: Susan Robinson and Monique Rothschild have attended and moderated The Friday Book Class for many years, although fewer than 250.
