2301 Planet Earth and Its People in the Year 2100

Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 8/1/26 12:00 AM

This course will build on a spring course of the same name--but it's not a prerequisite. That course was proposed to address mostly technological and climate issues. The research to present it indicated that social and governance evolution during the next 75 years will have more influence than technology. After spectacular population and economic growth in the last 75 years, we as Americans and as humans face significant cusps in the next 75. There will probably be fewer of us in 2100 then there are now. That's a sharp turn. Discussion will be encouraged.

Moderator: Alan Flaherty has conducted several OLLI courses addressing intersections among technological, social, and governance issues. This one will continue to address the delights and challenges his sub-teen grandchildren will face in 2100, when they'll be approaching the same age he is now. He is a retired engineer and media executive who has focused on process analysis and process design.
