2107 A Layperson's Guide to Understanding and Responding to Mental Illness

Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 8/1/26 12:00 AM

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 23% of Americans live with mental illness. The continuing stigma and stereotyping are a direct result of the lack of education about mental illness. This course, edited and updated, will provide the latest information about mental illness and focus on gaining knowledge, raising awareness and changing expectations. The course will include a Q&A panel of persons living with mental illness. It will also provide important skills for interacting with persons diagnosed with a mental illness.

Moderator: T. Victor Lloyd, MTh, MAPC, is a caseworker and Law Enforcement Training Specialist. He has 30 years’ experience as a mental health professional and 20+ years’ experience providing education and training on mental illness and crisis intervention to law enforcement and other professionals both locally and throughout the US.
