For baseball fans, Cooperstown is an almost sacred place. How did it end up in a small inaccessible village in upstate New York? What were its origins, and how has it evolved? Of all of the major sports halls of fame, why are the selections for the baseball HOF the most argued about? This class will take an in-depth look at the origins, history, ownership, and current state of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the writers and committees who select the players. And, yes, we will discuss Pete Rose.

Moderator: Greg Gajus is a lifelong baseball fan/historian who once spent a week in Cooperstown researching Baseball Revolutionaries about the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings. He has presented at Cooperstown and the Reds Hall of Fame in addition to teaching several baseball-related OLLI classes. He has also taught OLLI classes on Eisenhower, NASA, and WKRP in Cincinnati.
