4812 Care for the Caregiver
Multi-week in-person | Available
Caregivers of spouses, parents, and children need to take care of themselves, but that is often easier said than done. This class intends to provide a safe, structured space where caregivers can share valuable resources, struggles, and how they maintain a loving relationship with their family member. Topics such as managing in-home help, finances/insurance, self care, and end-of-life issues will be discussed in a supportive, nonjudgemental atmosphere. Come connect with others who will listen, understand, and bring you peace of mind.
Moderator: Melissa Broome has been caring for her husband with chronic illnesses for 20+ years. She feels that teaching and participating in OLLI courses gives her a chance to get out of the house and be herself, not just a caretaker. She would like to use her skills as a retired teacher to lead a supportive discussion group for other caregivers.
