2926 ZOOM How to Protect Yourself from Your Computer

one-time ZOOM | Available

The vast majority of headaches, security issues, tech expenditures, and e-waste are preventable. We'll demystify and explain the IT industry in plain English (especially the Windows 11 cash grab this past October!). Topics: core components of a computer/tablet, why antivirus software is obsolete, the four new threats (legalized spyware, cryptolocker/ransomware/hostageware, update attacks, and support scams), proper backup, how to make almost any computer last 15 years, how to save tons of money on printing, how to slash your Internet and mobile bills, and avoiding fake rental Wi-Fi.

Moderator: Marc-Anthony Arena is an honors graduate of both McQuaid Jesuit and RIT, and has been in the IT industry since 2000. He is the author of "How to Protect Yourself from Your Computer", a plain English guide to the tech industry. He spent a decade as a local radio host and now hosts The Computer Exorcist podcast.
