Many great Irish works have been adapted to film. The first week, we will read and discuss a work by an Irish author. The following week, we will discuss the film that was based on it. The films are all available on a free service such as Kanopy. “Angela’s Ashes” by Frank McCourt (4/24, 5/1), “My Left Foot” by Christy Brown (5/8, 5/15), “Foster,” by Claire Keegan and “The Quiet Girl” (5/22, 5/29), “The Secret Scripture,” by Sebastian Barry (6/5, 6/12). NOTE: We are not watching the films in class.
