Spirit and Fire, a biography of Teilhard de Chardin by Ursula King, will be the starting point. We will read the biography over the eight weeks, learning about this paleontologist, Jesuit priest, writer, mystic, and man before his time. His life provides a starting point for conversations about evolution, human purpose, consciousness, God, and the relationship of science and religion. Additional resources, including articles by Teilhard and others, will be provided.

Moderator: Carol Carlin developed this course in response to interest expressed by several participants in her previous OLLI course. She brings curiosity about the cosmos and our place as human beings in it, along with experience as a presenter, facilitator, teacher, and pastoral minister.
