1284 IN-PERSON AI in the Context of Previous Technological Revolutions

One-time in-Person | Available

AI is the latest link in a chain of technological revolutions stretching back to the wheel. The chain includes gunpowder, steam and internal combustion engines, electricity, atomic energy, semiconductor electronics, and the Internet. They are all essential to the lives we enjoy. But each has dislocated previous paths and delivered some negative side effects. Artificial intelligence is the latest link in this chain. We'll examine these precedents and identify some of the related social choices and consequences that might be models for artificial intelligence. Alan Flaherty is a retired engineer and media executive who has focused on process analysis and process design.

Moderator: Alan Flaherty
