Let's explore the development of inventions, technologies, and engineering in the US from the Civil War into the 20th century. We'll examines the social, economic, and political issues that influenced the technological choices made as the country developed. Transportation, consumer, communication, and military technologies will be considered.
Moderator: Jason Krupar is Associate Professor of History at UC College of Arts and Sciences. Prior to joining the History Department, he taught at the OMI College of Applied Sciences. He currently serves as co-editor of the Ohio Valley History journal. He specializes in history of technology and engineering, Civil War technology and engineering, and Manhattan Project/Cold War nuclear weapons.
