The Phil DeGreg Trio will present a program detailing the process of organizing the music they play. It will include discussion about communication on the bandstand and detail the elements of the melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic vocabulary that they use in real time. They will play examples and conclude by creating an arrangement as part of the presentations. Questions encouraged.

Moderator: Phil DeGreg is Professor Emeritus of Jazz Studies at UC-CCM, where he taught for 28 years. A graduate of Yale and the Univ. of North Texas, he toured with the Woody Herman Orchestra in the 1980s. The Phil DeGreg Trio has been a mainstay on the Cincinnati jazz scene for 30+ years. He has recorded 12 CDs.
