WWI and WWII had profound effects on the lives and lifestyles of the US people at home, despite being fought on foreign soil. Norman Rockwell artfully captured the impact of life in America during those decades. Through his illustrations we see both the joys and the difficulties of everyday life. This class will walk through the history of America post WWI through WWII, highlighting the remarkable resourcefulness and creativity of American society to meet the needs of the country while showcasing Rockwell’s work along the way.
Moderator: George Fraley is a retired finance manager with a lifelong love for American history. He also has an affinity for Norman Rockwell that began as an Eagle Scout when Rockwell was the primary illustrator for Boys’ Life magazine. He combined his passion for American history and Rockwell to develop a history series capturing American life from WWI through WWII.
