2628 Understanding the Holocaust: Context and Voices--With Field Trip

Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 1/6/26 10:00 AM

This course includes a timed ticket for a field trip to “Auschwitz. Not Long Ago. Not Far Away.” at Cincinnati Museum Center, Friday, March 14, 10 am. We will explore background information on Auschwitz to enrich our understanding of the exhibit’s 500+ artifacts. We will examine the scale of this complex of more than 40 camps—including forced labor sites and the killing center where 1.3 million people were murdered—while grounding our learning in the personal stories of those who survived and those who did not. NOTE: Must register by Jan 23.

Moderator: Anne Flick, a gifted education specialist and secondary social studies teacher, has taught courses on Holocaust and genocide history as well as Holocaust literature. Volunteering with the Holocaust and Genocide Education Network, she works to bring Holocaust and genocide education to Ohioans (and neighbors) from age 10 to 100. She also is an adjunct teaching graduate courses at XU.
