1977 ONLINE Are Animated Films Real Movies?

Starting with Steamboat Willy, Walt Disney popularized cartoons and later produced the landmark animated film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Later, Warner Brothers, DreamWorks and Pixar added full-length animated films, many as musicals, But are these "real" films? Why are animated films so popular? We'll explore those questions and the history of animated films through discussion and film clips.

Moderator: Doug Iden is a big fan of movies and theatrical musicals with an extensive collection of films and original Broadway scores. He has taught classes on Broadway and film at OLLI for several years.
