2623 Three French Writers of Renown
Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 1/6/26 10:00 AM
France's literary tradition dates to the ninth century and is celebrated for its universality. In this class, we will read works in the following order of three acclaimed writers who exemplify this tradition: Molière's hilarious The School for Wives (Richard Wilbur's translation recommended for its clarity), Saint-Exupéry's enigmatic The Little Prince, and Colette's daring novella Chéri. Materials read in English at home but discussed in French in class, with participants responsible for acquiring their own copies. Discussion format. For intermediate to advanced French speakers.
Moderator: Joel Klekamp is a finance guy turned PT turned Francophile. He hopes to share his enthusiasm for French lit with you in this class.
