We will discuss events leading up to a transplantation decision, the surgery itself, and the immediate recovery period—all from a family perspective. We will also discuss relationships with donor families and healthcare providers. We will touch on the psychological and medical challenges post-transplant, including anti-rejection medicines and other medical issues facing transplant patients.
Moderator: Ed Linz, a 1965 graduate of the Naval Academy, is the author of five books, including recent works on the Great Depression and the Vietnam War. He holds advanced degrees from Oxford Univ. and George Mason Univ. and lives in Maine and Virginia. He was the recipient of a heart transplant in 1994. He is a native of Northern Kentucky.
