2321 Human Origins Through the Lens of Physical Anthropology
Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 8/26/25 10:00 AM
The origin of the human species is the essence of this course. We will consider the theory of evolution, the intellectual precursors to that theory, and the forces aligned against the Darwinian logic that challenged creationist orthodoxy. Our search for the first humans will include the fossil record, advances in cranial capacity, clan structure, socialization patterns, food-sharing habits, lithic tool-making changes, and the timing of it all—plus a lot more. Surprises await!
Moderator: Bob Wilhelmy is a historian by education. He long has been fascinated by the field of anthropology, which scientifically speculates on the prehistoric chapters of our time on this planet.
