2224 Dispute Resolution: Negotiating Through Conflict

Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 8/26/25 10:00 AM

Learn how public and private disputes can be resolved through negotiation, facilitation, mediation, and arbitration. Applying the principles of Getting to YES developed at the Harvard Negotiation Project by Roger Fisher and his colleagues, we uncover the value of determining each party’s interests, creating options for settlement, communicating and listening purposefully, assessing your best alternatives to agreement, and developing a trusting and respectful working relationship with the other side. We’ll use interactive video and role-playing to demonstrate and discuss dispute resolution skills and strategies to improve your negotiated commitments.

Moderator: James K. L. Lawrence. OSU, BA, JD. Labor and employment law and dispute-resolution advocate as a member of Frost Brown Todd LLC for 55 years. Adjunct Professor of Negotiation, Mediation, and Dispute Resolution at OSU and UC Colleges of Law and the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine.
