2120 Making Comics
Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 8/26/25 10:00 AM
Remember when drawing was fun? It still is! In Making Comics, you'll tap into the creative spark you had as a kid—no fancy skills or art degrees required. Whether you're a doodler, storyteller, or someone who's cartoon-curious, you'll learn ways to turn memories and everyday events into comics. We'll tell stories, sketch without judgment, and surprise ourselves along the way. With quick demos, playful prompts, and lots of practice, you'll see your cartooning taking shape—wonky lines, wild ideas, and all. Come draw, laugh, experiment, and make meaning—one panel at a time.
Moderator: Steve Kroeger's 20 years at UC include developing cultural competence and critical thinking with preservice teachers. Before that, he was an intervention specialist for 12 years in public schools. Current interests embrace cartooning and graphic narrative in areas that include breastfeeding as well as relationships and sexuality. He has self-published four chicken comics with two of his grandsons.
