1019 "Just imagine..."—The Power and Pitfalls of Imagination

This three-session course will deal with the power and pitfalls of "imagination" (German "Vorstellung"), the ability we have to picture in our consciousness things not actually present to our senses. Topics for discussion: advertising, the placebo effect, hypnosis, self-healing, pain management, etc. Outline will be provided before each class.
Moderator: Don Maloney taught psychology, philosophy, and religion for Univ. of Maryland at US military bases in Europe and Asia. He has also taught at several stateside universities, most recently XU. After receiving his master’s from Gonzaga Univ., he did post-graduate study at Boston College and at universities in France and Germany. He was previously an OLLI instructor in Denver.
