7004 Examining Costume in Film: "Gone with the Wind"

One-time in-Person | Registration opens 5/1/25 10:00 AM

Costumes are critical in identifying a time period and defining characters in films. To examine the success of the costumes in Gone with the Wind, we will view clips of the film, discuss how the designer used costume to tell the story, and compare the costumes with the actual dress of the Civil War period. You don’t have to have seen the movie to participate!

Sara Butler is Professor Emerita of the Department of Art at Miami University where she taught History of Costume for 25 years.  She is currently the volunteer curator of the costume collection at the Butler County of Historical Society.
