7001 Introduction to Artificial (Algorithmic?) Intelligence
One-time in-Person | Registration opens 5/1/25 10:00 AM
There’s really nothing artificial about artificial intelligence. It’s real algorithms working on real data in ways that affect all of us every day. In this presentation, we’ll talk about the realities and potential of AI. It’s in our search engines, in speech to text, and in autonomous vehicles. It also plays chess very well. Its strength is in quick processing of large datasets. But it’s vulnerable to making bad guesses based on that data. It’s surely here to stay. Let’s understand it!
Moderator: Alan Flaherty is an engineer with 50 years in process design and a long list of OLLI presentations. Like all of us, he used AI without recognizing it for years, but now he values it's quick paths to useful information. He wonders how cost-effective it is.
