4710 Wreathed in Fire: Wonder in the Poems of Mary Oliver
Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 4/1/25 10:00 AM
The work of Pulitzer poet Mary Oliver (d. 2019) reveals her tireless curiosity about nature and her place in it. Even when alluding to personal suffering or moral darkness, or in imagining her own death, she displays a large capacity for wonder. In this sequel to 2023's course "Quiet Ecstasy," we'll read more of her poems as we explore how Oliver's sense of wonder engages our own to bring her poetic vision to life. This is a stand-alone course; no previous reading of Mary Oliver is necessary.
Moderator: Cecil Albright has led 11 poetry discussion courses for OLLI.
