3033 Dejeuner with Diplomacy—Vatican Papal Diplomats, 1,700 Years, 325-2025 CE
One-time in-Person | Registration opens 4/1/25 10:00 AM
This year, 2025, the Catholic Church commemorates the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea ("The Council") held in 325. The Council was the first worldwide council of all Catholic bishops in one assembly. Vatican-trained and Oxford-educated Vatican Diplomacy Scholar Domina Maria St. Catherine, a member of the Dominican Order, who once served on the staff of the Holy See's Mission to the UN-NYC, will discuss how the Council inaugurated the custom of sending a papal legate as a pontifical diplomatic representative and highlights the historical development of paal legates from 325 to today. Since today Nicea is located in Turkey, a light Turkish lunch is included.
Moderator: HdG, Dna. Maria St. Catherine, O.P. Tert., has quietly specialized in the scholarly study of Vatican/Holy See diplomatic affairs for 20+ years. Trained in Catholic theology, international law and ecclesiastical diplomacy, in 2002 she became the first American in U.S., U.K, Vatican, UN, and Oxford world history to complete the Oxford Univ. Foreign Service Programme with a specialization in Vatican/Holy See Diplomacy.
