3031 Lessons from the Great Depression

The presentation will cover events in the 1920s leading up to the start of The Great Depression, including ominous parallels between the 1920s and the 2020s. We will discuss political and economic conditions during the 1930s and the early years of WW II with detailed examination of the lives of different groups of Americans who provided first-hand accounts of their lives during this tumultuous period of American life. There will be a discussion of lessons learned with questions and comments solicited.
Moderator: Ed Linz, a 1965 graduate of the Naval Academy, is the author of six books, including recent works on the Great Depression and the Vietnam War. He holds advanced degrees from Oxford Univ. and George Mason Univ. and lives in Maine and Virginia. He was the recipient of a heart transplant in 1994. He is a native of Northern Kentucky.
