Cincinnati has a long history of robust news-gathering. With the Cincinnati Enquirer as the lead player, the city is also served by four network-affiliate TV channels, a nationally known radio news station, an aggressive weekly business magazine, and a handful of well-regarded magazines. But journalism in Cincinnati, like journalism across the country, has been greatly impacted by changes in ownership and changes in technology. A veteran journalist and journalism educator explains the trends and how they’ve changed what Cincinnati news outlets deliver to their audiences.
Moderator: Patricia Gallagher Newberry is an enterprise reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer. During 1979-1994, she worked in ten newsrooms, then taught journalism at Miami Univ. for 25 years. She retired from Miami in 2022 to return to The Enquirer. A graduate of the Univ. of Nebraska and past national president of the Society of Professional Journalists, she resides in Kennedy Heights.
