2610 Writing Sonnets: Petrarchan, Elizabethan, Modern
Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 4/1/25 10:00 AM
Are you ready to take your poetry writing to the next level by learning, experimenting with, and "breaking" the classic sonnet ? Over four weeks, we'll learn the rules, write within the rules, and then use our hard-earned poetic license to make our own rules for writing sonnets, among the oldest and most enduring of poetic forms. From Petrarch in the late 13th century and Shakespeare in the late 16th century right up to today, poets have found inspiration in this "little song." Let's read and write together to see where the sonnet takes us.
Moderator: Cate O'Hara has moderated numerous OLLI poetry workshops. She holds an MA in English from Univ. of California at Berkeley and currently is Director of OLLI.
