Every year at the end of April, we celebrate Arbor Day, reminding us of the importance of trees. This unusual 18-part presentation will explore several topics including: what a tree is (not as obvious as you think), how photosynthesis works, why leaves turn colors in the fall, the environment benefits of trees, evidence against invasive species, why oaks are so special, and information about three local Johns. It will be in-tree-gingly tree-mendous!

Moderator: Gerald Checco has been a popular OLLI speaker, with eclectic presentations from "Walking the Camino de Santiago" to a "History of Sewers, a series of presentations about various plagues, the History of Numbers, to a dive into "Colors". A retired public servant, he serves on several civic boards, including being the President of the Urban Forestry Advisory Board .
