1943 IN PERSON: Cincinnati’s Housing Crisis—Two Responses
One-time in-Person | Registration opens 4/1/25 10:00 AM
The national housing shortage hits low-income populations the hardest, and Cincinnati is not exempt. In Hamilton County, one in three residents lives in unaffordable housing, forcing them to make choices between rent and other basic needs. Some families live in substandard housing resulting in negative health consequences. Fortunately, Cincinnati has several organizations that use different strategies to address the problem. Our presenters today will describe two approaches: home ownership and high-quality rental housing. Leaders from Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati and Over-the-Rhine Community Housing will discuss their programs.
Moderators: Helen Spieler is Director of Homebuyer Services for Habitat for Humanity. Mary Burke Rivers is the Executive Director of Over-the-Rhine Community Housing. Both have extensive experience in providing high-quality housing for low-income families.
