- The 1960s was a time of great cultural, economic, and social change in American life, including sports. This course covers a history of college football from the 1960s to today. It is the story of how college football went from being a fervently followed regional-based sport in 1960 to a billion-dollar, nationalized, professionalized industry in the third decade of the 21st century and what this transformation means for the future of the sport and its role as an extracurricular university activity.
