1610 Singing from the Sacred Harp
Multi-week in-person | Registration opens 1/3/25 10:00 AM
The Sacred Harp is a songbook published in 1844 and in print ever since. Recent years have seen a revival of the Sacred Harp tradition. The songs are Christian hymns and songs, but the singings attract people from all backgrounds and beliefs. It is considered an American folk tradition. This will be a participatory class: most of the class time will be group singing. The songs are written in four-part harmony. You don't have to read music or be an experienced singer to attend. Google "Sacred Harp" for more info.
Moderator: Rich Overturf has been a member of the Cincinnati Sacred Harp Singers for many years and looks forward to spending six weeks sharing his love of this American folk tradition.
