1222 ZOOM Century of Charter Government in Cincinnati, 1924-2024
one-time ZOOM | Registration opens 1/3/25 10:00 AM
A hundred years ago, Cincinnati citizens rose up against political corruption and adopted a new form of city government. Cincinnati's newly amended charter replaced the patronage and spoils system with a professional city manager, competitive bidding, civil service reform, and proportional representation. The Charter Amendments produced balanced representation led by a diverse group of City Council members. This presentation looks back on 100 years of the City's history to explain why reform was necessary and why it's relevant for today. Panelists include Charter Board members Kevin Celarek and Dot Christenson.
