1929 ZOOM Lights, Camera, Music! Exploring the Power of Music in Cinema
one-time ZOOM | Registration opens 1/3/25 10:00 AM
We will examine the ways music is used to develop plot and characters in movies, propelling the action and enveloping the viewer in the emotional context of the story. We'll take a brief journey through the history of music in movies from the silent film era until today and discuss some of the best composers of cinematic music. We’ll examine how different movie genres approach the use of music and look at both movie scores and soundtracks. And we'll experience a movie scene or two with and without music to illustrate the power music brings to cinema.
Moderator: Nancy Nolan has a Master's in Music from Univ. of Kentucky and has sung professionally for 40+ years. She has spent many years as a professional public relations executive and has also helped authors self publish their books. This will be her fourth presentation for OLLI.
