One-time in-Person | Registration opens 1/3/25 10:00 AM
How did electric appliances end up in our homes? Their appearance resulted from a fascinating convergence of events that occurred at the turn of the 20th century: the domestic servant shortage, the electric service's introduction, and scientific management principles emphasizing housekeeping efficiency. We’ll explore these events and how they drove the marketing and adoption of electric appliances. You’ll see advertisements and electric appliances from the period from presenter Mary Schramm’s collection. Schramm is Professor Emerita of Marketing at Quinnipiac University. Her research includes adoption of innovations.
