2113 Beyond Oedipus and Antigone: Exploring Greek Drama

multi-week ZOOM | Registration opens 1/3/25 10:00 AM

Thanks to Freud, everyone knows about Oedipus’ complex history of murder and incest, while the Antigone tale became one of the most rewritten plays throughout the centuries. Tragedy, however, is much more than these two characters: let’s discover together and read the hidden gems of Greek theater, exploring different heroines and heroes and how their dilemmas are still relevant to this day.

Moderator: Cecilia Cozzi is Visiting Assistant Professor in Classics at Carleton College. She earned her PhD from UC in 2023. Her research focuses on Greek tragedy and the discussion of filial inheritance on stage. She has also developed several multidisciplinary projects, combining Classics with classical music and opera for different audience and in several venues.
